Ocotea album cover

On July 15 2010, DJ Hamsa and the entier KSPC culture was blessed to interview modern day avant fonk prophet Georgia Anne Muldrow on the pretense of talking about her new instrumental pan-tonal jazz album, Ocotea. What ensued was pearls of wisdom and travel through the akashic record with this modern day yogini. Listen to the interview here.

Review of “The Old Prince,” by Shad

In his sophomore effort, Canadian rapper Shad mixes race-conscious rhymes with soulful samples, bass-charged techno beats and nods to jazz and classical music. His Common-esque delivery and rhymes can get sloppy, but it’s overall a feel good and thought-provoking record.

Review of Brother Ali’s Latest Album, “Us”

The newest album from Rhymesayers’ Brother Ali, this is a true gem. In terms of content, it is truly inspirational: as the title suggests, his aim with this disc seems to be to encourage everyone to unite through a common humanity. He has always been one of the most genuine artists out there, and this album is a great demonstration of that. My favorite tracks are the title track, “Us,” and “Babygirl” because they speak wonders lyrically. If you get a chance to check out his tour with Toki Wright and Evidence, do–he brings his authenticity 100% to live performance. Also, BK-One (DJ) drops it hard, as usual, on this one. This is a MUST have!!
