If you’ve listened to KSPC in the past 20 years you might already know that Shrimper, KSPC and WCKR SPGT are quite fond of one another.

Well, we are beyond giddy with girlish squeals to let you know that n celebration of the 20th anniversary of Shrimper and the release of “Smooth Sounds – Various Artists Play the Future Hits of WCKR SPGT”, there will be an all-day music festival at the dA Center for the Arts in Pomona on Saturday, July 24th from noon – 11pm.

Not only is there a stellar lineup of artists playing that day who contributed tracks to Smooth Sounds, but entrance to the show is only $5 AND is a benefit for the dA Center for the Arts.

To take the fun even further, WCKR SPGT has recorded a 5 song EP of new material alled “Today I Saw Turtles”– and in true SPGT spirit, while the Smooth Sounds compilation features songs that are covers of WCKR SPGT songs that they haven’t previously released, the new 5 song EP features 3 tracks that were written by Smooth Sounds artists (Phil Yates, Amy Maloof and Charlier McAlister) — it’s the old SPGT switcheroo. And the SPGT doesn’t stop there (of course)! They will be taking bids at the July 24th show for an extremely limited run of lathe-cut records — and although you WILL be able to hear and make requests to hear the new SPGT EP via KSPC, there will only be 20 records made and the music will not otherwise be made available, digitally or on CD. So if you want the new WCKR SPGT EP, you best be gettin’ your heinie down to the dA!

And if you’re still not convinced, or your wallet is a bit thin — your $5 entrance fee (kids get in FREE!) will also get you access to a bouncy house, a video confessional booth, and the fuzzy feeling that you are supporting the dA Center and their great art programs.

Keep it tuned to KSPC in the days ahead leading up to the show, for some Smooth Sounds CD and poster giveaways as well as in-studio performances by Smooth Sounds bands!
